The European Values Network

The European Values Network (EVN) is a platform open for all who believe, that in order to successfully address global challenges, the European Union should become a political community based both on the will of its citizens and on power of its Member States, while consciously rooted in its values and cultural heritage.

The aim of the EVN is to create a lively network of Europeans, who want to become actively engaged in searching for and formulating of alternative solutions to make Europe freer, safer, stronger and more prosperous. The EVN operates through working-groups on most urgent policy questions, workshop-meetings, e-communication, conferences and summer universities.

The outcome of the EVN will be publication of policy-papers.

Working-group questions for 2007:
1        How should the EU institutions be reformed in order to be efficient and to motivate citizens to a stronger engagement? 2        What should be the borders of the EU and how shall we deal with our diverseneighbourhood?

The EVN is organized by the association European Values (CZ) and association Future Europe (PL), with support of individuals from Germany, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary.

The association European Values (Evropské hodnoty) is a Czech non-governmental non¬profit organization devoted to active promotion of the European values in the European society. Our vision is a European society aware of the values it is based on and a European political community able to promote them.

Since our foundation in January 2005 we concentrate our activity on educational and analytical work – we regularly organize public debates called “European Club”, an annual international conference (in 2006 devoted to “European Values and Identity for the 21st Century”, Brno) and an annual summer school (“From Identity to European Integration” in August 2006). We see the establishment of a pan-European network of active citizens who want to work on solutions of today’s Europe as a logical step in our efforts to become an active factor in the development of a European civil society.

The Future Europe association (Stowarzyszenie Europa Przyszłości) was founded in the beginning of 2005 in Poland. Our goal is a safe, democratic Europe rooted in its values, where the freedom of an individual is respected. Our activity focuses on social education and popularization of European identity as a common basis for a European Union society and a successful integration process. Thanks to the fruitful cooperation with Association for European Values we have started cycle of debates called “My Europe”. We see close cooperation with similar NGO’s in Europe as one of the ways how to contribute to building of a common European community.
